Yesterday, was my first time seeing the 8 orphans in Kinigi.  There are 6 Lowland Gorillas; Ntabwoba, Pinga, Serufuli, Itebero, Dunia, Tumaini and 2 Mountain Gorillas; Maisha and Kaboko. The Lowland Gorillas will be joining Mapendo, Amani, Kighoma and Ndjingala at the Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education Centre (GRACE) located at Kasugho, Lubero Territory, North-Kivu province, DRC.  Maisha and Kaboko will join Ndeze and Ndakasi at the SENKWEKWE CENTRE in Rumangabo, DRC.

The orphans are a blessing to watch.  Everyone with their own distinct personality.
Today, I was able to go back and see the orphans for one last time, before heading off to the Rwanda / Congo border tonight.  For the next 10 days I will be visiting different parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo.  Our first destination is Bukavu then off to Kahuzi Biega National Park where I will be accompaning Dr. Jacques on a health check with Eastern Lowland Gorillas.
Next we will be off to a Primate Sanctuary in Lwiro.  There are alot of chimpanzees and other primates at the Sanctuary.
Lastly I will be spending 6 days at the SENKWEKWE CENTRE in Rumangabo.  I will finally meet my friend Andre Bauma and the other gorilla caregivers and the 2 orphaned mountain gorillas Ndeze and Ndakasi.
I cannot begin to tell you what an honor this is for me to be here.  To experience for myself the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project and the wonderful  people that are affiliated with this organization.

Stay tooned….. There is more to come
